Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s first DLC, The Teal Mask, has arrived, bringing a batch of returning and new Pokemon. All of these new creatures can be found in the new area, Kitakami, including the bug-grass Pokemon, Swadloon. Swadloon eventually evolves into the powerful Leavanny, but it doesn’t follow the traditional evolution path of evolving at a certain level. Here’s how you can obtain a Swadloon and evolve it into Leavanny.

Where to find a Sewaddle and how to evolve them

Before you can worry about evolving Swadloon, you will first need to find its earlier form, Sewaddle. Sewaddle can be found in the southern part of Kitakami, pretty much coast-to-coast. The Pokedex lists them as being found in grassy areas, so make sure you can search in grass. Sewaddle evolves into Swadloon at level 20, but most wild Sewaddles are going to be far above that level, so all you have to do is level them up once.

How to evolve Swadloon into Leavanny

Swadloon evolves into Leavanny once you reach the necessary happiness level.
Swadloon evolves into Leavanny once you reach the necessary happiness level.

Swadloon evolves into Leavanny when their happiness level reaches 220 and they level up once after that. While you cannot see in-game what happiness level your Pokemon is at, this number cannot go down, so you just need to keep doing activities that raise it. Interacting with your Pokemon during a picnic, giving them EXP candy, leveling them up, and letting them walk beside you in the world are some of the ways to raise a Pokemon’s happiness level. Having a Pokemon in your party also levels their happiness, so just keep Swadloon with you for awhile and they should eventually evolve into Leavanny, although doing the above activities will make it go much faster.
