The Grammy nominees for the video game category have been officially announced, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, and God of War Ragnarok being some of the big names lined up for a night of kudos. The Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games And Other Interactive Media category was only added in 2022 after years of campaigning to get video game soundtracks recognized, and the first winner of this award was Assassin’s Creed Valhalla during the 2023 event. The full list of nominees for the 2024 Grammys are:

  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 — Sarah Schachner
  • God of War Ragnarok — Bear McCreary
  • Hogwarts Legacy — Peter Murray, J Scott Rakozy, Chuck E. Myers “SEA”
  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor — Stephen Barton and Gordy Haab
  • Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical — Jess Serro, Tripod, and Austin Wintory

While all of the contenders offer excellent soundtracks to listen to, Stray Gods is currently being eyed as the favorite due to how it uses its interactive soundtrack to tell its story. Jess Serro, Tripod, and Austin Wintory are named as composers for the game, but as Wintory explained on Twitter, the game’s soundtrack was a team effort.

Curiously, Stray Gods wasn’t nominated for an award in the category that it excels at for The Game Awards. Final Fantasy 16, Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Hi-Fi Rush, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were all nominated, and while each of those game soundtracks are deserving of a win, the omission of Stray Gods has been seen as odd.
